influence

On my first blog I wrote of examples of the influences drawn from the lives of two different people and of two place separated by a world apart, geographically speaking--the first taking place in New York City and the other in China.

There was a common thread to both of these simple stories.  That thread was the power of the individual influence each made upon the lives of others.  Though simple, each was powerful, inpactful and meaningful.

We can draw many such examples throughout our recent history.  Jesus Christ, Moses, Mohammad  Ghandi, Sister Mary Theresa are the names of the more prominent.

But what of ourselves?

I have been blessed in my life with the opportunity to develop small businesses with many of our Southeast Asian refugee neighbors who immigrated to this country during the Vietnam Era.  Today is a generation away from then.

As many as 50,000 lives have been touched by the simple labors that I performed back then.  Of course these numbers pale in comparison to that of so many others!

But these questions always beg an answer:  "Have I done any good in the world today?  Have I helped someone in need?"
