Moments ago I read from a book in someone's wish list about a man who set about to get hugs and had ultimately effected the live of thousands, if not millions, of people. I believe that the point being made was the power of the person and application of the Internet.
I recall reading a similar incident that began in China following the end of the Communist take-over in 1949.
The individual in my story did not have the Internet or even any other kind of modern electronic marvel that we take for granted today.
This man was from the United States and was a farmer who knew how to drive tractors and in particular he knew how to drive McCormick tractors. He taught the Chinese peasants how to drive these tractors. The story does not recount how long he was there in China, but that is irrelevant to our story anyway.
Later on, in 1975 in fact, the man returned to China to visit the villages where he had taught tractor driving.
Word spread quickly about his return! When he arrived in China and to the small village, he was greeted by more than 250,000 people to see who this simple tractor driver was that had come those many years ago to teach tractor driving.
With a quick click on the keyboard we return to today and the incredible "apps" that we have at our disposal for teaching and spreading our information. This can become a tool for reaching a vast percentage of the populations of this planet.
Back to our first story about the hugs. We can do the same thing with a laugh, a joke, a kind word and a smile--pass these along to everyone that you meet.
